FAQ
Will extensions ruin my hair?
No! With my method of installation, extensions should cause ZERO damage as long as you follow the rules and take care of them.
How often do I move my extensions up?
I say extensions should be moved up every 6-8 weeks, but some clients prefer 5 weeks because they like the feeling of them being tighter.
What type of sunscreen should I use when I have extensions in?
I recommend Bare Republic, the one without the ingredient avobenzone. Other sunscreens WILL ruin your extensions by discoloration and it can not be fixed.
How long does extension hair last?
The hair should last longer than the actual band. The band should last at least 8 months but usually longer if taken care of properly. Expect to buy new hair annually.
Do professional hair products really make that much of a difference?
Yes! The shampoo and conditioner makes all the difference when it comes to color retention, that goes for blondes, brunettes, and everyone in between. Also using a good heat protectant before blow drying and again before any iron stylers will heat protect your beautiful locks and help with color retention.
How often should I deep condition my hair?
I say shoot for once a week or anytime the ends of your hair start to feel a little more thirsty. I recommend the Unite 7 Seconds Moisture Masque for anyone with extensions because there is no protein in it. Another great one for thirsty hair is the Oribe Masque for Moisture and Control.
Why should I avoid getting my hair wet when swimming with my colored or lightened hair?
Swimming is not good for colored hair, it can make it tangly and cause damage and strip color and toners and cause blondes to appear green. If you are going to go swimming I recommend wetting your hair down with fresh water, spraying lots of Unite 7 Seconds Detangler in it, and pulling it all up in a tight ballet bun. Rinse and wash your hair as soon as possible after swimming.
